Tracking the lag between NYC parking violations and public release
Monthly Reporting Lag
For violations in each month, the distribution in delay before violations reached NYC Open Data.
Methodology
Data comes directly from NYC Open Data: Open Parking and Camera Violations (nc67-uf89) and Parking Violations Fiscal datasets (pvqr-7yc4). For every violation we compare the violation/summons "issue date" to the `_created_at` timestamp to compute a `delay_days`. Percentiles of `delay_days` are calculated for the most recent twelve violation months. The “current delay” shows the range of reporting delays for the most recent 30 days of data new records per dataset.
Cards aggregate every issuing agency plus specific camera programs (DOT speed/red-light/bus lane, DOT mobile bus lane, MTA camera categories) so trends remain comparable. Downloaded CSVs include both the latest summary range and the per-month percentile stacks currently selected on this page.
