NYC Parking Fines are innefective at deterring repeat violations. NY VTL § 237(2) caps fines at $50 except for no stopping/standing fines which have a $100 cap. NYC parking fines include a $15 surcharge. A9031-2023 by Assembly Member Tony Simone would increase parking fines for repeat violators.
Between Jan 2024 and Dec 2025 NYC issued summonses for parking violations. of summonses went to vehicles with 2 or more of the same violation within 24 months.
Methodology: Data for 2024-01-01 through 2025-12-31 from FY 2024, 2025, 2026. Violations with less than 5k occurances are excluded from this report.
