NYC Parking Fines are innefective at deterring repeat violations. NY VTL § 237(2) caps fines at $50 except for no stopping/standing fines which have a $100 cap. NYC parking fines include a $15 surcharge.
Between Oct 2021 and Sept 2023 NYC issued summonses for parking violations. of summonses went to vehicles with 2 or more of the same violation within 24 months.
Methodology: Data for 2021-10-01 through 2023-09-30 from FY 2021, 2022, 2023. Violations with less than 5k occurances are excluded from this report.
